Precambrian

Favorite track: Orosirian.

zilqnova This album got me into prog metal. The lyrical themes combined with the compositional genius make this one of my favorite albums of all time. I even bought it on vinyl! Favorite track: Tonian.
Michi

Michi A work of art with tremendous depth. The music is inspired and powerful. The art and meaning reveals in its entirety. Listen to it from beginning to end - this is how it makes sense. Favorite track: Calymmian.
Ippocalyptica

Ippocalyptica While every album by The Ocean is stunning, Precambrian is very likely their second-best work, and one of the greatest progressive metal albums of the past 20 years. The hardcore tendencies in the first half of the album might deter people who are only familiar with the band’s newer works, but they actually work brilliantly and complement the more progressive second half of the album incredibly well. Profoundly intense, superbly crafted, and endlessly compelling, Precambrian is sublime.

David Fischer After seeing The Ocean live, I simply had to return to 'Precambrian'. The 5 Hadean/Archean tracks are unforgivingly heavy and brutal, whilst the Proterozoic part of the album already shines with the grandeur the band should only develop further on every release following this one. Robin Staps is easily one of the most talented musical visionaries of our age, considering he is the brain behind all if this. Monolithic, cinematic, spectacular and dangerous like a stream of liquid fire. Favorite track: Orosirian.
Deidre House

Deidre House The best album by The Ocean, since they had fully bloomed into a great progressive metal band but hadn't yet hired that annoying clean singer. Each track absolutely crushes, but with poise and finesse. Favorite track: Orosirian.
